My brother and sister-in-law moved out of the basement over the weekend, so I am going to move down there.
But first, I need to redecorate. Right now you can look at the before pictures in the "Basement" photo album. (check it out, my sister-in-law has fascinating taste.)
Yesterday we ordered gray carpet for the whole thing, and today we went and got paint. The walls are going to be "Shoreline Haze" and the trim "Woodlawn Whitwash"
I'm going to do all the painting this weekend and the carpet is supposed to be installed on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Update, Saturday Night: Haven't spread a drop of paint yet. When I took down the fabric in the bedroom I discovered that there was drywall under it that had never been finished. I spent all day today taping and mudding the whole thing.

As I recall the stipes made sense with something else that was going on in the room. They make no sense when the room is empty.
It looks like some of it is fabric stuck on the walls. What's behind that?
Going for quiet, restfull gray? That sounds good. I hope you enjoy your new space.

Most of the walls are paneling.
The stripes follow the grooves in the paneling, which will still be there with the new paint, but I think it will look alright, especially for down there.
