Yuck

You would think that after a dozen years in the south I would be used to heat; but all the time I was in the south I had air-conditioning in my bedroom, at least.

I can handle the heat if I can escape it at night, but thinking that it's going to be this hot without escape for the next three months is just depressing.

An Angel By Any Other Name?

I've been seeing ads for "Moonlight" a new show on CBS this fall.

It's about a troubled vampire in Los Angeles trying to make things right by helping the helpless.

Haven't we seen that somewhere before?

Buffy Season Eight #4

15 Hours

Update:  I've got all the photos up in the "Michigan Trip" photo album.  It's going to take a while to get them all named and captioned, but go ahead and look any way.

The last day went from 8:30 am central time to 10:30 pm mountain time.

But four hours of that were side trips.

I only saw Crazy Horse from a distance and didn't get any photos.  On the eighth day of an eight day trip cash gets kind of scarce, and after $15 to get into the Badlands and $8 to get into Mt. Rushmore I didn't have the $10 for Crazy Horse.  On the plus side I can park for free at Rushmore for the rest of the year and I can enter the Badlands as many times as I want in the next seven days!

Four States

I started the day in Michigan, drove more or less diagonally across Wisconsin then picked up I-90 and drove all the way across Minnesota and 70 miles into South Dakota.

This is the only day On the trip where I hit four different states, that was about the most interesting thing about the day, too.  I-90 across Minnesota is really boring.

Long Day

I ended up not leaving Ann Arbor until after 3 o'clock this afternoon, and with more than 400 miles to drive that made for a very long day.

But it was worth it to see the Macinac Bridge.

Driving over it with the two towers looming in front of me and all the cables closing me in, I felt like I was in a cathedral.

Ann Arbor

Had an amazing weekend at the retreat, you can check out what people were saying at the blog for the retreat.

I can't tell you anything about where it was or who was there, and I can't even express how incredibly wonderful it was.

Today I helped out with CE and the service at Northside Presbyterian in Ann Arbor, MI.

I'll have more pictures of the trip tomorrow night, Monday is the biggest sight-seeing day of the trip.

Right now, though, I am going to go back to watching the Tony Awards.  "Spring Awakening" is winning everything.

It was cloudy and wet

I was going to post some pictures, but the "Free Wireless Internet" at this Super 8 is really slow.  Especially on uploads.

I'll try again the next chance I get.

On The Way

I got my traveling shoes on, headed up to Michigan for a retreat.

I drove from Greeley to Omaha today, and will go from Omaha to around Chicago tomorrow.

I'll have some pictures to put up at some point on the trip, but I-80 across Nebraska doesn't offer a lot of scenic vistas, unless you think cows are beautiful.

It also doesn't help that I did the I-80 trip about thirty times while I was in college.  I kinda do it on auto-pilot now.
